Taking a look around the world for a moment; can you honestly say that we have the best possible leaders in our government, in our local authorities, our schools and institutions? Do we have the most ethical, capable and qualified leaders in our businesses? Perhaps not!
Ask yourself "how did these leaders become established in their post?" Did they devote a period of time to study the principles, techniques and ethical rules of leadership while serving their populations with solid support and experience, or did they simply end up as the easiest choice for promotion, based on time in the job, number of certificates or the person who was best known for their links with other influential figures? Perhaps there's too much manipulation in promotion these days that leads to poor leadership plus a steady decrease in standards.



Life and business are not always straight-forward... we often have to combine the characteristics, yet very different professional skills, of Management and Leadership if we are to achieve effective results in everyday business, i.e. managing tasks and following the vision.
